Conscious Indulgence (March 22, 2008)

What's up Rockstar?

I trust you're well this glorious day. Now is the hour to get outside and expand your tribe. Winter's over, so crawl out the cave and witness the gifts presented. Toes in the grass, sun on the face, friends by your side...ahhhh...yeah, man. This is definitely my time of year. Jah Bless! :)

PARTY!!! 03/29:
We're only a few days away from the Conscious Indulgence Event I've been telling you about.
This Saturday, 03/29, selfcentered is throwing a workshop turned party over here in Santa Monica. We'll start at 6 by learning some great tool for tappin in, utilizing breath and intention, then 7-7:30 finds us in group meditation, followed by connection games till 9 to letcha know who else is in the room. Then at 9 we kick into the entertainment with the Monkey Chanting Crew, live music with Malik Houlihan, and a DJ to wrap out the night, soul shakedown style.
Tickets are $25 pre-sale, and if you sign up for the ambassador program, you can refer friends, they get $5 off, and you get a $5 kickback. Win-Win! :)
Sign up, then let your network know and you're good to go. If you're not interested in signing up, and just want a discount, use my code to get your tickets: AMB157903
This is truly a breakthrough event. Whatever you have going on Saturday, call up the people you're doing it with, and bring them to Santa Monica. You'll be stoked you did.
Volunteers Needed: I need 3 more volunteers to round this party out. If you or anyone you know is interested in helping out from 4:30-midnight, with free entrance, and a sweet selfcentered t-shirt, please email me and I'll getcha hooked up.

New QiGong Class 03/30:
LeasMaria, an amazing QiGong instructor, is finally holding classes on the West Side again. She'll be teaching Medical QiGong at the Tao Healing Arts Center every Saturday. She has specific forms that prevent illness...I know, it may sound a little odd. Consider this: when the body's in tune, nothing can bring it down. When you're practicing energetic cultivation on a weekly basis, droppin stress, boosting your immune system, getting assistance in the form of bodywork and acupuncture, eating a nutritious diet... you have the strength to stand up to almost anything.
It's the best health insurance you can buy!
The class is $15/person, or $50/month.
If you have any questions contact Paul. :)

Hike 04/12:
Mishe Mokwa is just a couple weeks away. Remember to gather up your gusto for a beautiful hike on April 12th. Rally your warrior spirit...Yoga, QiGong and Hiking, AWW, YEAH!!!

Zen Den:
If it's time for a tuneup (it is Spring, after all), come visit me in the Zen Den. I practice bodywork weekly in my beautiful healing sanctuary, blended with crystal singing bowl re-calibrations, and hot stone grounding. I promise you a bomb-diggity therapeutic session unlike any other you've ever received.
Call 323 620 3239 to set up an appointment.

Remember that this is the time of year to eat more salads, drink more water, and breathe it all in. Welcome to your life.

Be Bold,
Mateo

Last Minute Adjustment (March 22, 2008)

Happy (almost) Easter!

Given the nature of the holy day we are speeding toward, I'm pushing our Ultimate Game back a few hours. I had planned on spending some early morning time in communion with a few other beautiful souls at a sunrise service, and I just learned that my chosen house of worship is holding ceremony at 11.

Come with me!

Agape is holding service at the Gibson Amphitheatre on the Universal Citywalk, and they're expecting about 5000 people. If you've yet to experience the Agape International Choir, lemme tell ya...it's a charge not to be missed. And, of course, Reverend Mike always has some goodness for ya soul. I can't think of a better way to start a day of resurrection awareness than a morning of personal quiet meditation followed by fellowship with 5000 brilliant beings singing and reelin in the spirit of personal empowerment and epic gratitude.

Afterward, we'll gather for our game of Ultimate at 2:30, Penmar Park.

I know it's a quick shift. Just hold on, hang loose and enjoy the ride. :)

Have a beautiful day!!!

This Week's Fun (March 20, 2008)

Whassup kid!

I don't have long, so I gotta be quick with this one. I just want to remind you of a few things as we head into the weekend.

First off, you're amazing. Never forget that. Your presence on this planet is a present to be cherished by all you know, unwrapped in slowmo like old home movies of Christmas morning. Enjoy your beauty. Lord knows we are. :)

Second, this Sunday is our Ultimate Frisbee game in Venice!!! Like I said, I gotta make this quick, so please pardon the copy/paste.
Ultimate Frisbee 03/23:
Penmar Park is the place to be on March 23. It's pretty simple. Late morning game of Ultimate into early afternoon. Come, bring hydration and clothes to SWEAT in, and play with the big dogs. This is a game for anyone, and if someone needs to sit out, we can always use cheering from the sidelines. :) We'll gather at 11:30, start at 12, and rock till we fall down.
If you have any questions, lemme know. Otherwise, I'll just plan on seeing you in the park!
Suggested donation $10. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds.

Third, I've only got a few spots left on my 2 day stint in Beverly Hills. I would love to see all my East Side Peeps, so if you haven't looked at your calendar, HIT IT!
Very Limited Time Bodywork Special 03/26 & 03/28
It's time you took care of you, and this is how you do it. Remember (as sickness seems to surround us...flu and whatnot spreading like wildfires in the Santa Ana winds) that self care through preventative medicine is the best health insurance you can have. When your immune system is strong, can't nuthin touch you.
The offer still stands: 2 hour consultation and treatment for $105, but only on these two days. Grab your phone, grab your calendar, and let's seal your healin.
Wednesday, March 26th ~ By appointment only
Friday, March 28th ~ By appointment only
323 620 3239

Okay, time for bed. 6:30am QiGong waits for no man. :)

Remember, though, 03/29 selfcentered party in Santa Monica...more info to come.
AND 04/12 Mishe Mokwa hike. :)

See you soon!

Bearhugs and Big Love!!!

The Playful Warrior Rocks It (March 13, 2008)

Greetings, Greatness!

Good God, these days just keep getting more beautiful! I feel so blessed and fortunate to be alive right now, living in a place kissed so early in the season by the sun's radiance, among such amazingly bright, shiny people. Lawdy Lawdy!

Party Party 03/15:
So we got a party to go to; a chance to REPRESENT! :) I hope to see you at the Family Affair shindig on Saturday (www.family-affair.org).
Also keep in mind the SelfCentered throwdown on the 29th. If you haven't yet marked your calendar, do it now.

Public Display of Meditation 03/17:
The SelfCentered Tour is hosting a Hollywood PDM (public display of meditation) on Monday afternoon, the 17th (St. Paddy's: not just for drinkin anymore!). Essentially, a group of people (including you!) will sit in semi-silent meditation at 3 prime locations in Hollywood to bring some serenity to the belly of the beast on a particularly rowdy day. Nothing wrong with rowdiness...I highly endorse it. :) It's nice, though, to offer balance through earth-shaking stillness from time to time, especially en masse. RSVP to PDM@getselfcentered.com.

Now, some people let me know that they were personally offended by the name, SelfCentered.
That's AWESOME! See, it's gotcha thinkin, questioning, and reevaluating. The name refers to the process of centering yourself, that you may then fully offer your gifts to the world at large. It puts to rest the antiquated vernacular that propagates putting oneself at the center of everyone else's existence. It ain't about being selfish, it's about tending to self to share.
See what other commonly used language you can restructure this week. It's fun to redesign the paradigm. ;)
quick note on this event: I will not be able to attend, as I have a full day of work on Monday. When you get to Hollywood (the link above for location) look for Max. He's a nice guy. He'll know what to do.

Very Limited Time Bodywork Special 03/26 & 03/28
As you may or may not know, I'm a Venice Kid, meaning I rarely leave my beautiful west-side neighborhood. I have an amazing studio over here at Lincoln and Rose (featuring crystal singing bowls and hot stones and me!), where I provide powerful healing facilitation every week. The only catch is, IT'S ALL THE WAY OVER BY THE WATER! I love it, but some who live east of the 405 get a little miffed.
SOLUTION!!!
For 2 days only, I'll be in an AMAZING, beautiful studio in Beverly Hills. This is that opportunity you've been looking for to get some great bodywork.
If you're needing to destress from a long week/month/year of beating yourself up in pursuit of your dreams, come in. If you're ready to ramp up your personal path of evolution, come in. If you've been sitting on your couch just a little too long...you get the picture.
And to sweeten the deal, I'm offering the first visit at 30% off my usual studio rate. That means that where you would normally pay $150 for 2 hours of consultation and bodywork, on these 2 days only, you get it all for $105.
After that, I'm back to the beach. :)
Remember, how you do anything is how you do everything. Seize your opportunities.
Wednesday, March 26th ~ By appointment only
Friday, March 28th ~ By appointment only

Ultimate Frisbee 03/23:
That's right!!! Dude, I'm so stoked.
YEAH!!!
Suggested donation $10. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds.

Mishe Mokwa Hike 04/12:
This is going to be another beauty. This one was suggested by miss Amy Frame (and thank you Eric Raber for the heads up on Winding Way). It's about a 3.5 hour round trip, so we'll plan on being there for 5.5, with Yoga and QiGong.
Plan to bring a yoga mat, plenty of water, sunscreen, sun cover (hat) and food for the trail. We'll share in a light lunch, so think beyond trail mix when throwing your pack together...be creative, and think juicy.
More info to come!!!
Suggested donation $10. No one is ever turned away for lack of funds.

There are of course yoga classes galore taking place every week. If you're interested in runnin with me to grab some time on the mat, give a shout. 323 620 3239.

Keep breathing, and keep believing in your abilities to naturally blossom beautifully.
You're a child of God, no less than the Lions or the Lillies.

LOVE YOU!!!

The Playful Warrior Likes To Party (March 6, 2008)

Good Morning Beautiful One!

Holy...That hike was AMAZING!!! Spirit blessed us with a stunning day, and so many beautiful souls came out to play.
A couple of great ones posted pics online, so if you wanna relive the day, or see what you missed out on, check these sites.
Thank you George and Gemini for being such stellar stewards of the lens. :)

We've got some amazing adventures coming in the next few weeks. As promised, we'll be engaging nature by spending some time outdoors again really soon. Stay tuned for beach yoga, stunning hikes, and much much more. I'll be sending out info on our next hike here in just a few days.
In the meantime, I gotta let you know about two beautiful events that are coming up this month. MARK YOUR CALENDAR!!!

Family Affair 03/15:
On the fifteenth of this month I'm assisting Family Affair in presenting a sweet fundraiser for Tree Media, the producers of the 11th Hour film. Tree Media is a social-profit organization that has been creating innovative ways to disseminate progressive thought for the last 10 years. Right now their primary focus is sustainable living through the 11th Hour Campaign.
This party is gonna be truly beautiful. Come getcha groove on, shi-shi style. :) The flyer is attached below for full details, but the important stuff is as follows :
Bel Air mansion party with world-class DJs, dancing, food, drinks, live painting, giveaways (Klean Kanteen and Sigg), a phat silent auction... and it all benefits a great charity organization.
Tickets are a TAX DEDUCTIBLE $30.
RSVP at manifest@family-affair.org.

Conscious Indulgence 03/29:
Near the end of the month, come to Bonsorte Studios in Santa Monica for a party centered in Meditation. This one is brought to you by the SelfCentered Tour, and features Balinese Monkey Chanting, live music, meditation, community connection games, good eats and all kinds of other greatness. I'll be hittin you with more information as the date draws nigh, but in the meantime, mark your calendar and get ready to rock. :)

2 More Dates to Know:
March 23 : Ultimate Frisbee (!!!)
April 12 : MisheMokwa Hike

I'll have much more info on these two in the coming few. For now, just clear some time and keep your eyes up. :)

Remember that breath is your connection to God, self, and everything else.
Stay Grateful.

LOVE YOU!!!

Hiking and Lifestyle (Feb 25, 2008)

Good Morning you Amazing Creature. :)

Our hike is less than a WEEK AWAY!!!

Sunday the 2nd, we're heading up Winding Way to Escondido Falls in Malibu. There are 3 gorgeous waterfalls on this hike, as well as an energetic vortex, some powerful local medicinal herbs, and incredible views of our coast.
We'll be learning about and looking for indigenous medicinal plants and practicing self-cultivation through a few rounds of Surya Namaskars (Sun Salutations) and Dancing Star Qi Gong.

IMPORTANT UPDATE :
We're bumping our time back from 2pm to 11:30am. We want to be sure to catch the most beautiful part of the day, and get back before dark. :) Let's meet at the trailhead at 11-11:15 for some light stretching, then we'll head up at 11:30.
Be sure to bring LOTS OF WATER, some snackage for the trail, a hat or sunscreen, a yoga mat and/or blanket (ground cover), and some way to strap it all to your body.

I'm really stoked to have you joining me on this expedition. Creating community in the conversation of wellness is so important to our collective and individual growth. Thank you for your commitment. :)

Also, in the name of community and wellness, I would love to have you join me for a couple of donation yoga classes this week.
Tuesday I'll be at Power Yoga West (www.poweryoga.com) on 2nd Street in Santa Monica for Anaswara's class at 4:30. This woman always gets me sweatin, and I never leave her class without a solid brain-melting body high. It's yoga that leaves you feeling like you just got a great massage.
Friday I'll be at the same location, same time, but with Govindas. This brother is always inspiring, and likes to end his classes with kirtan chanting...so good for the soul.
Both of these classes are a suggested $12 donation, but no one is ever turned away for lack of funds. Just drop your money in the box on the way out. :)

Keep the vibration strong and true, my light one.
Show the world what you're made of.

Bless!

Hiking Winding Way 03/02 (Feb 18, 2008)

Greetings Beautiful One!

We're kicking this Spring off easy with a hike up to the Escondido Falls in Malibu.
Given the recent rainfall, this hike should be STUNNING, and I hear the view is spectacular : all the way to the Channel Islands on a clear day.
We'll be learning a bit about the medicinal plants found in the Santa Monica Mountains on this hike. I hear we even have a couple of highly trained wild-harvest herbalists in our group. :) With luck and persuasion, maybe these blessed souls will step forth and share their knowledge.

We'll also be bustin some Dancing Star Qi Gong halfway up, and flowing through a few sets of sun salutations at the top. Bring a yoga mat and/or a blanket (those mexican blankets are DOPE) for the self-cultivation set. Make sure you can strap it to your back somehow, as it can get annoying to hike with stuff in your hands.

We're meeting at 2:pm, and all in all we'll be out for about 4 hours.
Bring a light jacket in case it gets chilly, a flashlight for the walk back, and PLENTY OF WATER. I recommend throwin' some chlorophyll in that bottle as well.
Also don't forget a hat and/or sunscreen if you need it.

Check this site for directions and details : http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/EscondidoFalls_4472.asp

On a separate note, save the address warriorwork@gmail.com to your address book. I'll likely be sending future updates from that one, as Gmail sometimes shuts down my account if I send a lot of emails from one address. I'd rather them lock that account for 24 hours than this one...so thanks for helping me. :)

So just to wrap:
March 2nd 2:pm
Winding Way Trailhead, 2-3 miles North of Pepperdine on PCH
Hiking, Qi Gong, Light Yoga

LOVE YOU!!!
:)
